Let's be honest... skincare ingredients can feel completely overwhelming, can't they?
One person tells you to use hyaluronic acid, another says you need peptides, then someone else insists vitamin C is the answer. Before you know it, you're scrolling through social media wondering if you need a whole new skincare routine and feeling like you'll have to remortgage your house just to keep up with the latest trends!
The truth is, skincare doesn't have to be this complicated.
One of the reasons I created FAB Skincare was because I wanted to take away the confusion. After nearly 20 years of working with thousands of clients, I've learned that most people don't want a bathroom cabinet full of products—they just want to know what actually works.
So that's exactly what I've done.
I've carefully chosen ingredients that I genuinely believe make a difference to skin health and built them into a simple, easy-to-follow system. Every product has a purpose, every ingredient has earned its place, and everything works together to help support healthy skin.
In this blog, I want to take you behind the scenes and explain some of my favourite ingredients for dry autumn skin. I'll show you what they do, why they're important and where you'll find them in the FAB range, so the next time you read an ingredients list, you'll know exactly what you're looking at.
Because when you understand why an ingredient is there, skincare suddenly becomes a whole lot less overwhelming.
Let's dive into the ingredients I think your skin will love this autumn!

Amino Acids – The Building Blocks of Healthy Skin
What are they?
Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins such as collagen and elastin, which help keep your skin feeling firm, smooth and healthy.
Why do we use them?
They help support the skin's natural barrier, improve hydration and leave skin feeling soft, comfortable and nourished.
How often should you use them?
Daily. They're gentle enough for everyday use and are especially beneficial when your skin needs extra hydration.
You'll find them in:
Peptides – The Skin Supporters
What are they?
Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act like little messengers, helping to support your skin's natural renewal processes.
Why do we use them?
They help improve the appearance of firmness, smoothness and healthy-looking skin while supporting the skin barrier.
How often should you use them?
Daily. They're suitable for all skin types and work best when used consistently.
You'll find them in:
No.7 Youth Elixir Serum
Luxury Body Remedy
Niacinamide – Your Skin Barrier's Best Friend
What is it?
Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, is one of the most versatile ingredients in skincare.
Why do we use it?
It helps strengthen the skin barrier, improve moisture retention, reduce the appearance of uneven skin tone and leave skin looking calmer and healthier.
How often should you use it?
Daily. It's suitable for almost every skin type and can be used morning and evening.
You'll find it in:
No.7 Youth Elixir Serum
Luxury Body Remedy
Glycolic Acid – The Glow Giver
What is it?
Glycolic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that gently exfoliates the surface of the skin by removing dead skin cells.
Why do we use it?
It helps brighten dull skin, improve texture, encourage smoother-looking skin and allows your other skincare products to absorb more effectively.
How often should you use it?
Around twice a week is enough for most people. Your skin needs time to renew itself, so more isn't always better.
You'll find it in:
Purslane – Nature's Skin Soother
What is it?
Purslane is a botanical extract that's naturally rich in antioxidants, vitamins and omega fatty acids.
Why do we use it?
It helps soothe the skin, supports the skin barrier and protects against environmental stress, making it particularly beneficial for dry or sensitive skin.
How often should you use it?
Daily. It's gentle enough for everyday use and works beautifully as part of a consistent routine.
You'll find it in:
Aloe Vera – Lightweight Hydration
What is it?
Aloe Vera is a plant extract that's been used for generations to help hydrate and comfort the skin.
Why do we use it?
It helps replenish moisture, calm the skin and leave it feeling refreshed and comfortable, particularly when skin feels dry or sensitive.
How often should you use it?
As often as needed. It's gentle enough for daily use and perfect whenever your skin needs an extra boost of hydration.
You'll find it in:
